My Blog number 2
By: Max
These are the thing we did this week.Time to reflect.

For the past few weeks our grade has been learning about how to write a good personal narrative. The teachers have taught us all how to plan, draft, and then write. All of our grades writing skills have increased by a huge amount. Some kids are even finished with their narratives already. And it’s all thanks to the teachers.

One big thing in the Keller community is health. And for the past few weeks our grade has been doing the franklin fitness challenge. The challenge consumes of curl ups, flexed arm hang, sit and reach, and pull ups. And we will be doing the mile run walk hopefully very soon.

For the past few weeks we have had first grade reading buddies. They are buddies in first grade who you read to, and who read to you. My buddies name is Ellie and she loves to read. Reading buddies can be very fun while also being educational. Teaching a younger student how to read is very fun. And I love being a buddie no matter what reason it is.

During reading we have been reading 2 different books. 1 “is a series of unfortunate events”, the bad beginning. And the other is “The Wild Robot.” The wild Robot is about a robot who gets stranded on an island, and she has to learn how to survive. It’s very emotional but it’s a great book.

This year our grade  has something called daily geo/ Geography. You get a piece of paper and, an Atlas and you study the Atlas to find the answers on the paper. Every day we have 2 questions which equals up to 8 a week. Then on Friday we have a test. There are 10 questions. And there's always a couple from weeks before. Like on week 6 we had a question from week 2. But daily geo is fun , and educational at the same time. And that’s why our grade loves it.

In 4th grade we have something called tech time. In tech time you work on the computers. We can work on our “jeopardy,” our “All about me,” and our “Math test.” It’s really fun to do and it is one of my(Max) favorite subjects in school. It’s also a fan favorite because we get to use the computers.

Last week our grade elected our grades Student Council members. Student Council is basically running for president, but there’s 2 members from a class whose elected, it’s for 4th and 5th grade only, and it’s for the school. You write a persuasive essay to get people to vote for you. You're a numbers not a person so they say I vote for numbers 5, and 2, Not Max, and Nigel, so it’s not a popularity contest. Which I like. My class members who won were Arden, And Grace.

In 4th grade we have Chorus. In Chorus we practice singing, we do warmups, then we learn a new song for our concert, and then we review everything else we have learned during the past few weeks of the school year. We learn songs for our Winter concert, which we are doing right now, and for our spring concert, which is obviously in the spring.
On October, 27th our school had socktober. It’s where Keller kids were crazy socks to school, and then donate new socks for people in need. And then when you get into your classroom you can’t wear your shoes. It was really fun to wear just socks and no shoes to school. And it was fun to see other people's weird socks.

In our community our school has best buddies. You can do best buddies in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. You can be a team and can be paired up with a student with disabilities. Or you can be a promoter, and you can think of ideas for awareness of disabilities. It’s really fun to do and it’s a big commitment. It can also be very helpful to kids with disabilities.

I bet by now you have read the 4th grade all about me. The All about me is a slideshow about you. It could talk about your favorite sports, board games, video games, even your favorite food. It’s really fun and our grade puts a lot of effort into it. Or at least most people put effort into their all about me. My all about me is 12 slides. I hope you like reading our all about me slideshows.

In math this week we learned about how to use the standard algorithm for multiplication. It was tough at first but we got the hang of it. It’s About doing problem+problem= answer.

This week in writing we also had to read a story and create an ending for the story. You would answer questions that helped you write your ending. Your ending could be funny, scary, or a little bit of both. Mine was funny and scary. Mine was left off at a cliffhanger so people were really mad at me. But it was fun to write and I hope your grade does it again this year.

In writing this week we also learned about transitions. What you do is instead of saying “the car was stuck”, next paragraph “The car was ready to drive. Their would be a middle section that says “I waited for hours and then the car got back together.” Which makes the story much better, and more realistic.

This week the art teacher Miss.Gould came to our class and taught our grade how to show different designs like lake, river, ocean, Island, and all different designs which we had never used before. It was really fun and I Can't wait to do it next month.

In reading this week we have been learning about Aha moments. An Aha moment is when a character realizes something, or understands a life lesson. There can be a character understanding the theme/ life lesson of the story, or there could be the character understanding a problem in the book.

This week in math we also learned how to use a tape diagram in multiplication. If the question was 453 x 3. You would write 453 3 times and that’s all you have to do. This week in math was very fun, educational, and it was very, very helpful for our homework. I’m really glad our teachers tought us all of this in just 1 week. And I’m really, really happy tht Mrs. Eickmann is my 4th grade techer.

This week our school did a ton of things.Comment what was your favorite paragraph, and why. Thank you for reading my school weekly blog. I hope you enjoyed reading it. And thanks so much to the teachers. And goodbye to who ever is reading this weekly blog.

Lately in math, we have been using a special strategy to multiply 3 and 4 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers. This strategy is called the “partial products” strategy It is similar to the “standard algorithm” but you multiply. The previous strategy was called the “area model”. I personally prefer the partial products strategy.

In music class, we are learning to play the recorder. So far we only are capable of playing 2 notes, but it’s a good start. I also heard next year we will play the ukulele.
The notes we know are A and B. To play A you cover the only hole on the bottom and the first two holes on top. To play B is the same but you cover one less hole on top.
In wordstudy we have a bunch of words and we have to sort them into categories. Last time there were 6 categories. The categories were about silent sounds. They normally do provide a good challenge and some good fun.

Our First Blog Post...

Our First
newspaper.pngBlog Posts:
F.Y.I These are our first blog posts of the school year, and we just typed some of the things that we did in the first few months of school.

The question of the day is………… what is your favorite ice cream flavor!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leave a comment :)

In Mrs. Eickmann and Mrs. O'Mealey's classrooms (studios) we have made a study guide slide based on the game show Jeopardy to help us study for a social studies test. My group: Asher, Jenna Liam and I, have developed an amazing Jeopardy. Mrs. Eickmann's whole class helped Mrs. O'Mealey's class learn how to make buttons that link to ANY slide that you want! It was SO FUN!!!!! I love technology!

WOW . . . . .Something that we did this year was that Keller kids raised over $400 for a 3rd grade classroom in Texas that lost everything in Hurricane Harvey. We did it to show support for Texas also, the whole school held up signs saying things like “go Texas” or “ happy to help!” WE love you Texas!

Now something else, Hmm…..OH!- I know! Now, let me tell you about Daily Geography. So, every Monday we get a sheet with Geography questions on it to glue into our Daily Geography notebook, and throughout that week we answer all the questions, and at the end of the week we have a test for it that we have studied for as homework.

Now… you should know that we have a field trip to Patriot’s Place. First, we went to The Press Room to make experiments on developing safer Football helmets to prevent concussions. Each table was split up into 2 different color groups. One group trid developing the cushions on the inside of the helmet, and the other group worked on developing the shell on the outside of the helmet. The Next thing we did was, GO TO RED ROBIN’S!!!!!!!! We had lots of fun there. Then, we went to the hall. There were 2 floors. We had lots of fun there. Finally, it was time to leave.   Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sad I can’t wait to go again!
Oh! By the way, we do co-teaching. I’ll tell you what that is. Co-teaching is when you have a homeroom, but…you switch classrooms for each subject. For example, in reading, your teachers assign your group reading, and some other subjects such as math (shown and talked about down below!), reading, and writing! Also, every day, we have our morning meeting in the classroom in between Mrs. O’Mealey and Mrs. Eickmann's homerooms. We call it “Studio 4” We also call Mrs. Eickmann’s homeroom Studio 3, and Mrs. O’Mealey’s Studio 5.

Sooo What about ……..MATh. In the amazing, humble subject that has the wonderful name called MATH we have worked with the mathematical number lines and place value charts. Most of us “llllooovvvveeee” math but others sadly do not  :( :( :( :(. Also we joyfully spend time on Beautiful multiplication, addition and subtraction.File:Down Arrow fire orange.png - Wikimedia CommonsFile:Down Arrow frost blue.png - Wikimedia CommonsPublic Domain Clip Art Image | Pink down arrow | ID ...
